Where are these stars coming from? by Noxxi-the-Noxxian Where are these stars coming from? by Noxxi-the-Noxxian

Since I went back to school after the holidays, I have tons of ideas to draw, I already draw some in my book (which is strange cuz I almost never draw in my book ಠ_ಠ ) Also I'm practicing with these so no problem for me now :3. I will be drawing this week, since I'm sick, ill and have a cold again >.>. I wanna stick at digital "painting" as much as I can, because actually that is what I would love to do, so I will practicing this more.

Anyway I hope you like it, took me ... O.O strange ... only 3 hours. :iconobamanotbadplz:. By the way, should I remove that border or is it okay?

Hope I didn't forgot anything :iconiseewhatudidthereplz:

I requested critiques, don't be pussies (lol jk), the worst critic is myself.

The style that this picture had been drawn in gives off an elegant portrayel, much fitting the character being drawn. The lighting and shading works out perfectly with the design, having used neither white nor black except for in the eyes, giving a more realistic aura. The eye is a little larger than usual, but I think this gives the picture a more...ethereal look to it. The pastel style used for drawing Luna made the colors blend together very nicely, and the star at the tip of her horn gives it a nice touch. Luna's expression is one of wonder and amazement, fitting the mood, style, and setting off just right. This is an amazing work of art, good job.

I usually start my critiques with a bad joke... but I can't think of one right now, so lets just get straight to the important stuff, shall we?

The concept of this piece is quite becoming - simple, almost beaming with serenity (as ironic as such phrase may sound). The overall calm of the pic stays true to the central character, who seem to be on a quest of discovery, much like Luna is after her release from the moon and, while the objective of these two quests differ, they do set the same mood within the recipant.

Luna is a generally often used character by fans, which makes it very hard to find something "new" to do with her. Most people are also able to capture her character nicely, furthering the challenge of making an original work with her as a center. Judging that part of the piece is always the hardest and always leave place for debate, however by putting feeling into the mix, one can make even the most overused concept alluring. In my opinion, you madea decent work with the latter.

The style you used is quite befitting - a tad dark, yet not overly so, greatly complimenting Luna's nature. The weak lighting plays an accurate homeage to the character's role as Princess of the Night and while her eyes seem a tad big in proportion, they don't distract the viewer from the whole.

The impact of this piece is certainly well-leveled; subtle, somewhat looming, being a mix of amazement and longing, all of which stay true to Luna's portrait in the show. The tiny star at the tip of her horn is a marvelous touch, suggesting a form of hope, which the Princess of the Night has to find herself in the world, which she had to abandon for a thousand years. All the delicate details greatly fit into the whole, setting the viewer into a specific mindset, without being intrusive about it.

While one may not fully appreciate this piece right off, undoubtfully giving it a closer look would make the recipant more aware of its beauty.

You might want to make the border to the iris colour a darker shade of the eye colour rather than black? Otherwise it's very nice
